Get Parenting Tips

Get Parenting Tips is a parenting website designed to provide direct support to parents and caregivers. Articles, videos, and resources are shared to encourage families to feel supported and to gain knowledge from those with lived experience or professionals. Although this is a State of Texas website, we aim to normalize parenting challenges and emphasize the importance of reaching out when help is needed.​

Project Summary

Migrated Website

www.GetParentingTips.com was my first large-scale project out of two, which involved transitioning from Dreamweaver (a code-centric platform) to Drupal (a Content Management System) and migrating the website to a new server (TX DFPS to TX HHSC) within 10 months. The project involved multiple teams (internal and external), user acceptance testing, accessibility, and ensuring the website's compliance with federal regulations. The website launched on the due date with new features:

  • Templates were created to facilitate the efficient posting of new articles.

  • Updated images to align with TX HHSC branding.

  • New user-centric functionalities.​

Brand Guide

After transitioning to TX HHSC, our area was tasked with creating a brand guide for Get Parenting Tips, as there were only notes and an outdated one-pager from the vendor. This project was assigned to me to create a comprehensive brand guide that also aligned with some elements from TX HHSC's branding and followed accessibility guidelines. The guide includes:

  • Font and Typography

  • Approved Color Palette (Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary)

  • Logotypes and Usage

  • Iconography

  • Photography
